Celts is the name we give to the collection of many tribes which lived in the British Isles (and Europe) before the Romans invaded their lands. Tribes have their own customs, rituals and languages which may be very different to other tribes. Tribes were also made up of smaller groups called fines. A fine was usually a family group – parents, children, grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins etc. Fines that were related would join together and be called clans. When clans joined together, they would make a tribe. Some clans were so big that they could be a tribe by themselves.
For the next two weeks, your group will be your fine. Your class will be your clan. Your school will be your tribe. Today you will begin to create an identity for your fine.
